Art du Midi offers a new way to view and purchase original contemporary art produced in the south of France (the Midi).
The Midi has been central to some of the great artistic movements. Impressionism, Fauvism and Cubism were all inspired to some extent by the light, landscape and culture of Mediterranean and southern France. In their studios or summer residences located in Provence, the Cote d'Azur, Languedoc, Roussillon and the Midi-Pyrénées, major artists of 19th and 20th century including Cézanne, Van Gogh, Gaugin, Renoir, Matisse, Derain, Braque, Picasso, Gris, Léger, Chagall, De Staël and Maillot produced some of the greatest examples of modern art. These innovative paintings and sculptures are now mostly to be found in major art galleries and museums throughout the world.
Today, the Midi is still a magnet for French and international artists and it continues to provide a rich environment in which to create both contemporary and classical art. 'Art du Midi' is dedicated to promoting and selling the work of this new generation of modern artists. The internet now offers a new way to view and purchase quality work at an affordable price. Artists
Each of our artists has a virtual studio where you can view an exhibition of their recent work. If none of the paintings, drawings or sculptures displayed are suitable, you will have the option to contact us to view other examples or to discuss a private commission.

Alternatively, you can browse through our themed virtual galleries, each containing particular types of work such as paintings, sculptures, photographs, art on paper etc. These will change and be updated periodically to reflect new work and ideas; you may also find examples of work here by artists not presented in the studio section.

Art-Therapy
The hospital at St Paul de Mausole in St Remy de Provence was made famous by Vincent Van Gogh, who spent a year there recovering after a severe mental breakdown. Today, St Paul is still a working psychiatric hospital for women. The Association Valetudo enables patients to use art-therapy as part of their treatment. You can view and buy some of their paintings and also find out more about the work of the Association Valetudo and how to visit the museum at St Rémy de Provence.
